At it for forty odd years and still enjoy it. I bet in moderation and manage not too lose too much, sometimes even manage a profit.
Concentrated on new Zealand today and only tipped 2 selections in OZ. So far the two in OZ have both won while the NZ's have had an unplaced and a third - perhaps I should not concentrate so much. Still 2 to go in NZ - cross fingers.
Another couple of placings yesterday assuring that I am on the right side of the ledger for place dividends. 51% placings for a 6% profit - not bad I guess. Still working on getting the winning side up there.
Managed to claw back 6 points and made up for the 10 cent loss yesterday ($18.90 return for 19 tips), $21.90 return on the place with 5 horses saluting in second place.
That killed the run of placings but at least I tipped a winning day.
Assured of a win today with the first one getting up at $9.30 and a place tote of $4.40. This now makes 12 place getters in a row and has pushed me into the black for placings. It also provided 6 winners from the last 12 selections but not enough to go into the black just yet for the overall results.
Second time I have managed two winning days in a row. Unfortunately no 20/1 plus winner amongst them but it does give some hope.
Managed two winning days in a row with the tips and gained a few places back up the ladder but still well and truly on the negative side of the ledger. Actually back ion the black with the place bets.
I did say that its time to climb back, well blow me down so far a return of $12.20 from the first five tips with two to go in Launceston tonight. Regardless of their results I am actually guaranteed a win for today's tips.
The frailties of punting: yesterday a disaster - today a great day and back in the black.
Not a good day on Sunday (4th day of tipping) and one of my selections ran like a true dromedary. Copped another placing. I am showing a loss on the wins but a very healthy profit on the place and an each way bet on all selections provided a healthy overall profit with a 60% strike rate for a dividend whether it be for a win and place or place only. The average price of the placing is $2.2. A report card would read: - pleasing result but must try harder.
Third day of tipping and I have finally delivered an almighty profit of 1% on the win from 17 selections. The place bets are showing a great profit. Might have to consider backing each way.
