GOLD COAST, Aug 14 AAP - Gold Coast NRL veteran back William Zillman is the first to admit he's struggling to get used to life at the Titans without John Cartwright.

The 28-year-old said it was weird not to have the foundation coach at Thursday's training session, with caretaker Neil Henry steering the troops instead.

Cartwright's eight-year stint with the Titans came to an end following Monday's loss to the Sydney Roosters.

That defeat all but ensures the Titans will miss finals football for a fourth straight year and it's for that reason Zillman believes his teammates need to move on and aim to finish the season on a high.

Gold Coast's last four fixtures are against teams who are in the top eight or hoping to sneak in before the end of the season.

Zillman, however, insists the Titans' focus shouldn't be on trying to spoil the finals' ambitions of their opponents but, instead, making sure they end a disappointing year on a high.

"It's about finishing on a good note," he said.

"We're not too worried about the other teams. We've had a pretty ordinary home record this year as everyone knows.

"We've got two home games to go and we'd love to finish with a couple of good wins for the fans."

Zillman says despite all the emotion surrounding the Titans in the past few weeks, it's been a lack of discipline and costly errors which have derailed their campaign.

He believes it's time to move on from Cartwright's departure and begin building for the future.

"Obviously, there's been a little bit of change at the club and we've just got to adapt to that," he said.

"There's been so much heart go into the last few games. It's hard when you lose those games when you're putting so much effort in.

"If we want to keep dropping the ball and being ill-disciplined, though, that's what happens."
