The NYC Brisbane Broncos have belted the hapless Rabbitohs 54-6 this afternoon to keep their finals hopes alive.

In order to crack the top eight, the Broncos will have to dispose of the Sea Eagles next week while relying on several other results to fall in their favour.

In the prelude to the main game, at a beautiful sunlit Suncorp Stadium, the under 20's Broncos dominated from start to finish in the nine try romp.

In the 50th minute a chain of tackle busts led to Dale Copley finding open space before dashing 30 metres downfield. He then found Dane Gagai on his right who scored his second try of the match, giving the Broncos an unassailable 36-6 advantage.

Seven minutes later, burly lock Mitchell Frei scored Brisbane's seventh try of the match running off the hip of creative rake Kurt Baptiste close to the South Sydney line.

Copley grabbed a hat-trick soon after when he sprinted his way over for yet another Brisbane four-pointer. Dan Wallace continued his perfect afternoon with the boot as the Broncos galloped out to a 48-6 advantage.

The Broncos cracked the half century in the 73rd minute when Baptiste scooted from dummy half, darted 20 metres, fended off a few tacklers and dived over under the posts.

Earlier, gun back Copley opened the scoring when he crossed in the corner for his 13th try of the season from a clever set play close to the Bunnies' line.

Just two minutes later, from their next set, the young Bucks scored again- this time via Copley's fellow centre Jerome Leedy. Back-to back difficult conversions from Wallace sent his side out to a handy 12-0 lead.

On the back of a Matt Berwick bust, Brisbane's clever halves took advantage of the momentum. A series of inside passes led to Corey Norman strolling through the Rabbitohs defence unopposed to touch down under the sticks.

One of the most comical attempted tries ensued in the 18th minute when Rabbitohs halfback Kurt French did everything but ground the ball. In exchanging the ball from his left hand to his right to touch down, French somehow got it tangled in between his legs before knocking the ball on.

Brisbane fullback Gagai then raced 50 metres down field before he was tackled by a stunned Souths outfit trying to fathom how their half managed to spill the pill over the line.

The Broncos didn't capitalise on their rather fortunate opportunity, but the Bunnies did manage to atone through wily prop Hamish Bryant in the 29th minute to reduce the deficit to twelve points.

The Broncos restored their 18-point advantage two minutes later when first graders Kurt Baptiste and Norman combined to send Copley over for his second try of the half.

Then with three minutes remaining in the half, Gagai scored a bullocking try adjacent to the uprights to send the Broncos out to a commanding 30-6 halftime lead.

BRISBANE BRONCOS NYC 54 (D Copley 3, D Gagai 2, K Baptiste, C Norman, J Leedy, M Frei tries; D Wallace 9 goals) defeated SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS NYC 6 (H Bryant try; K French) at Suncorp Stadium.
