With rumours abound and much incorrect information being circulated around the youth & junior game in Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Youth ARL secretary Alan Boot has found it necessary to issue a statement putting the facts on the table to clarify the situation.

In his statement Alan writes,

"Yorkshire Youth would like to quash the rumours doing the rounds that if you are playing summer rugby at Under 15's you can't leave and play winter rugby, this statement is totally incorrect. A highly placed RFL official has publicly stated, "Players/Teams can play Summer/Winter rugby, it is the individuals' choice as to when they would like to play." This high ranked RFL official has never stated players/teams could only play one or the other.

"As stated in an earlier message to our members, Yorkshire Youth ARL are continuing with a traditional Winter Rugby with the Under 17's and 18's commencing 2nd week in September finishing in April/May. The Under 16's stating slightly later in the 2nd week in October finishing in April/May, the reason for this delay is a large number of clubs have contacted us stating they want to join our league, but have a commitment to finish their current Summer league fixtures before moving back over to the Winter league.

"Yorkshire Youth are pleased with the tremendous response that they have received from teams wishing to play in the traditional September to April/May season and would like to stress that a large number of clubs have contacted Yorkshire Youth ARL regarding the lower age groups (Under 15's and down), with a massive response to the Under 14's and Under 15's who are showing serious interest in moving these age groups back to the winter based league. Yorkshire Youth ARL Management would like to thank these clubs for contacting and informing us of what they actually want and we would urge the remaining few clubs to come and let us know as soon as possible whether it be Winter/Summer or simply to let us know if you are still undecided. The Yorkshire Youth ARL management committee is a team that is prepared to listen to any of your queries and answer any questions that may leave you still undecided.

"To register please phone Alan Boot on 07802521869 or 0113 2794333, or email alan.boot@yahoo.com Alan is prepared to visit any Club and meet any team if you require more information.

"Yorkshire Youth is run by its members, you the clubs and we are all unpaid volunteers that just share a love for our game and want to ensure the survival of it. Our main aim is the Youth and Junior game and getting the players out on the pitch playing rugby, as they are key to the survival. They are the players that move into the open age, bringing with them the next generation of the game."

Yours in Sport Alan Boot
