Kyle Wood has returned to Huddersfield Giants from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, with the versatile half-back agreeing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The deal, which comprises of a loan until the end of the campaign and then a permanent stay from the start of next season, takes Wood back to the club for whom he was with between 2009 and 2011.

The 24-year-old was unable to make a first-team breakthrough during that period, though, and moved to Wakefield ahead of the 2012 season.

He has been an impressive albeit fringe performer for Richard Agar's men, making 15 appearances this season, largely from the bench, with the last being at Hull FC on Monday.

"We are delighted to be able to bring forward the planned arrival of Kyle to the club," said Huddersfield's managing director, Richard Thewlis.

"Our long-term plan was always to strengthen the options in the halves and hooking area.

"With Kyle being out of contract at the end of this year it was natural that we would target him once the relevant deadlines had passed and we have known for a while that he would be a Giant next year."

As a consequence of Wood's return to the Giants, loanee Brad Dwyer has returned to Warrington Wolves.
