AUCKLAND, Feb 16 AAP - The Warriors will chase their first NRL title win in Auckland on Sunday as the inaugural Nines tournament concludes.

The Warriors joined the Australian competition in 1988 and, despite two grand-final appearances in 2002 and 2011, the Kiwis are yet to taste title success.

That could all change in Auckland on Sunday with the home team easily the tournament standouts on the opening day.

The Warriors put Canberra and Manly to the sword on Saturday, with Sam Tomkins and Shaun Johnson starring, to emerge as the team to beat at the two-day event at a soldout Eden Park.

Canterbury, Canberra and St George Illawarra cannot progress to the finals after losing two of their three pool games.

Parramatta, Penrith and the Warriors were the three undefeated teams after each team played two pool games on Saturday.

Each side will play its last pool game on Sunday before the finals.

The final will kick off at 5.30pm (AEDT)
