Gold Coast speedsters Kevin Gordon and David Mead swapped footy boots for teacher's hats as they became Principal For A Day at Norfolk Village State School.
The pair were given the Principal's duties for the afternoon as they read with a group of Year 3 students before attending the school's official assembly to hand out merit awards and prizes to students.
Winger Gordon literally donned the teacher's hat when he was asked to wear the Year 3 class' bright red 'reading hat' - designated for the student who is reading during class at a particular time - when reading "The Diary Of A Worm'' to the kids.
"It's good to come out here, the principal is away for the day so it's good to help out with the kids and help get their mottos and values right,'' said Gordon.
"It's good to get back to the schools and teach the kids that education is an important factor in life. As footballers we've got to fall back on something at the end of the day so it's important for us as well.''
Mead said the students seemed to particularly enjoy Gordon's reading to the entire class.
"It's always good to get out to the schools and help. We came here to present some awards and Kevie read to the class it's good to see the smiles on their faces,'' said Mead.
"The community supports us in playing rugby league so we've got to give something back to them. It's very important to teach the kids about learning in a safe and respectful environment.''
