The Titans have retained two Gold Coast juniors for the future, with centre Steve Michaels and playmaker Jordan Rankin today re-signing with the club.

Mudgeeraba Redbacks junior Michaels, 24, has signed a new three-year contract until the end of the 2015 season, while Burleigh Bears junior and Under-20s graduate Rankin, 20, has agreed to a new two-year contract for seasons 2013-14.

The retention of the pair ensures the majority of the class of 2012 will remain together for next season and beyond with the addition of high-profile signing David Taylor from 2013.

Michaels has scored 40 career tries in 101 NRL matches to date and has developed a cult following in 42 games for the Titans since joining the club from the Brisbane Broncos midway through the 2010 season.

Rankin has played 15 NRL matches for the Titans - 14 of those over the past two seasons - since making his debut for the club as a 16-year-old in 2008.

Significantly from a junior development point of view, Rankin's re-signing takes the number of graduates from the club's Under-20s system that will be in the playing roster for next season to seven - almost one third of the playing group.

Jetstar Titans Coach John Cartwright said he was pleased to have two Gold Coast juniors staying with the club.

"It's good news for the club to be able to keep two young Gold Coasters who still have a lot of football in front of them,'' said Cartwright.

"Stevie has been great for us since arriving from the Broncos and is one of those players that gives his all every time he steps out onto the football field.

"With Jordon, it is easy to forget that he is still only 20-years of age and it's great that he can continue his development here on the Gold Coast with the club that he has been with for the past five years since he was 16.''

Michaels said he was excited to be continuing his career on the Gold Coast.

"I'm really happy here with the Titans, I've got family here and I grew up here so it's great to re-sign with the club'' said Michaels.

"I'm enjoying things here on and off the field and we've got a really tight knit playing group that I love playing with.''

Rankin said he was excited about the next two years with the Titans.

"I've enjoyed the opportunities that I've been given to play NRL football over the last two years and I'm excited to continue my development as a player and a person at the Titans,'' said Rankin.

"Being born and bred on the Gold Coast, it makes it that much more special that I can stay here and hopefully I can play more first grade over the next two years.''
