SYDNEY, June 29 AAP - Exciting young Wests Tigers winger Tim Simona says he has plenty more hot-stepping to come after his match-tilting effort against Melbourne Storm at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.

Simona, 21, illuminated the drab rain-sodden suburban oval with two long-distance runs in the first half.

Simona and fellow winger David Nofoaluma, who clinched the match with a try with just over 10 minutes to go, were both outstanding in attack and defence.

With Melbourne leading 4-0, Simona ran 80 metres to score on the half hour after pouncing on a loose ball dropped by opposing winger Sisa Waqa

He tormented the Storm seven minutes later when a 60-metre run from behind inside his in-goal area created a try for centre Blake Ayshford

"It was a crowd pleaser wasn't it, it certainly had the coaching staff off their seats as well," Tigers coach Mick Potter said.

While Simona made his first-grade debut back in 2011, it is only this season he has blossomed after cementing a regular spot.

"I hadn't really been getting a run, I haven't shown everyone what I'm capable of," Simona said.

"I thank Mick Potter for giving me the opportunity and now I'm showing everyone what I can do.

"I've still got a lot to improve on in my game, so there's plenty more to come."

Both 19-year-old Nofoaluma and Simona also held up well against the kicking game of Storm halfback Cooper Cronk.

"I was nervous because we knew Cooper Cronk was sending his bombs up, they could go anywhere," Simona said.

"We've been practising throughout the full week, the coaches telling us to do extra catching."
