Queensland Maroons forward Sam Thaiday has today been ruled out of Wednesday's second Harvey Norman State of Origin match in Sydney due to a shoulder injury.

He will be replaced by Brisbane Broncos teammate Corey Parker.

Thaiday injured his shoulder while playing for the Broncos last weekend. He had hoped it would respond to treatment in the early stages of the Maroons camp.

But after consultation with team medical staff, it was agreed that the injury was not responding to treatment.

"We felt that it was in the best interests of Sam and the team to rule him out today," said team doctor Roy Saunders.

Thaiday left camp this morning and will now return to the Broncos for further treatment and medical assistance.

Parker will not take part in the Broncos clash with the Sydney Roosters on Sunday.
