GOLD COAST, June 11 AAP - Queensland winger Brent Tate has played down the outrage from NSW rivals regarding his comments following State of Origin I.

The veteran spoke out following NSW's Game I victory over his fears of serious injury following a terrifying tackle by Blues pair Josh Reynolds and Beau Scott.

His comments sparked an angry response south of the Tweed, with NSW prop Aaron Woods going so far as to warn the 32-year-old to expect extra heat on the pitch for Game II in Sydney next week.

But Tate says as far as he's concerned the incident is ancient history and he isn't concerned about any Blues targeting him.

"It's done and dusted now," Tate told AAP.

"Good luck to them. All done."

Tate's primary concern is bringing together a Maroons squad battling injury concerns, and claiming a victory that will ensure their eight-year streak of series wins remains alive going into Game III in Brisbane.

The country Queensland product said Tuesday's trip to Longreach, where he and 10 other members of the squad visited the drought-stricken outback community, had been just what the doctor ordered before the camp gets fully underway.

"We probably need a bit of a lift going into the second game with all the injury concerns," Tate said.

"I love doing things like this. It gives you a real dose of reality about what life's really about."
