Super League season reaches climax on Eurosport

With the NRL finals just days away in Australia, the English Super League season is also hotting up with the final round of the regular season this weekend.

The Wigan Warriors have wrapped up the minor premiership after producing one of the great comebacks in Super League history.

Brilliant play by Aussie half Brett Finch and two tries and accurate goal kicking by ex-Wests Tigers star Pat Richards, saw Wigan score four tries in the final twelve minutes to reduce a 26-12 half time deficit and defeat Hull KR 42-36 for their second league leaders title in three years.

The Warriors will now showcase their silverware during their final home game of the season against old rivals St Helens. The Saints are coming off a 30-0 victory over London Broncos and are in need of a win if they are to secure third spot.

Wigan Warriors versus St Helens is on slight delay from 6am on Saturday morning 8/9.

It will be a final weekend battle for the last play-off spot, as Wakefield Wildcats edged out Widnes Vikings to leapfrog the embattled Bradford Bulls into eighth spot.

The Bulls were smashed 70-6 by Hull FC and now need to win against Catalan Dragons and hope that Wakefield loses to Salford City Reds.

Aussie Tim Smith has been a revelation for Wakefield this season and the ex-Parramatta star can become the hero for the club if he can steer the Wildcats to victory. Wakefield versus Salford is LIVE on Eurosport from 3.15am on Sunday 9/9.
