POTENTIAL KEY MATCHUPS FOR SATURDAY NIGHT'S SOUTH SYDNEY v CANBERRA NRL ELIMINATION FINAL

DAVE TAYLOR (Sou) v JOSH PAPALII (Can)

Two damaging heavyweights collide in what promises to be one of the best matchups of the season. Papalii did the unthinkable last week when he outmuscled Cronulla's Paul Gallen and will have Taylor in his sights in this game. Taylor was ordinary in Souths' loss to Melbourne and owes his coach Michael Maguire a big game and will be aware Papalii is coming to get him.

GREG INGLIS (Sou) v JOSH DUGAN (Can)

Poor kick-chase games will be punished by these two outstanding fullbacks with both players vital to their side's chances. Inglis was kept quiet by his standards against Melbourne and will be looking for more involvement this week. Dugan is likely to have the added responsibility of goal kicking, whether that affects his game remains to be seen.

SAM BURGESS (Sou) v DAVID SHILLINGTON (Can)

This promises to be an explosive clash after the pair exchanged words and a push and shove last time they played. Shillington put a late shot on Burgess's brother Luke in May with Sam objecting but the big Raider stood his ground in the ensuing scuffle. Burgess is Souths' hitman and if Shillington can dominate him, it could give the Raiders the edge they need.
