SYDNEY, Sept 25 AAP - The Burgess clan believes those NRL fans heading to Friday night's preliminary final between Manly and South Sydney with an expectation of fireworks, frays and all-in brawls might go home disappointed.

The two sides' earlier bouts this year were some of the most heated of the regular season.

The first featured Manly's Richie Fa'aoso nailing Greg Inglis with a spear tackle and Sam Burgess squaring off against Steve Matai after the Sea Eagles' centre ironed out his brother George.

"That's in the past and you got to move forward," George said of Matai's hit.

"There's definitely not (any bad blood between the sides). Every team is tough and we're looking forward to it."

The talk emanating from the next was all about Rabbitohs forward Jeff Lima's leg-twisting tackle on Anthony Watmough, and many expect the Sea Eagles will be seeking retribution on Friday night.

Tom Burgess, the youngest of the four brothers on Souths' books, suggested the risk of being banned for the grand final would keep foul play to a minimum.

"I'm pretty sure everyone will be on their best behaviour," said Tom, who has been unable to break back into the Rabbitohs' side after playing nine games in his debut season.

"Because, as you know, there's a big game to follow if the win comes.

"I played against Manly in the second fixture we played this year, and I didn't feel it (was spiteful) at all.

"Manly are a good side. They've got a good, strong forward pack.

"That's probably what people see - some big collisions between the forwards, but that's all it is really."

The four Burgess brothers helped launch the new Xbox console in Sydney on Wednesday.
