The Carnegie Challenge Cup tie between South Wales Scorpions and Halifax will now be played at The Shay in Halifax on Saturday 14th April (kick-off 3pm).

The switch was made as The Gnoll in Neath is being used for the entire Challenge Cup weekend and Halifax were happy to host the fixture.

Admission prices to the match will be &;12 for adults, &;7 concessions and &;3 for juniors with junior season ticket holders at either club being admitted for free.

Transport from The Gnoll in Neath to Halifax will be free of charge to all Scorpions fans who wish to go up there, while free pick-ups can also be made along the South Wales M4 corridor. Bookings are essential as numbers need to be known. These can be made by contacting the South Wales Supporters Club by calling Neil Goodman on 07858992105 or Darren Cooper on 07967202901 or emailingscorpionsfanzine@hotmail.com.

Scorpions chairman Phil Davies said: "We are disappointed that this game cannot be played at the Gnoll and the decision to give up home advantage was not taken lightly.

"There are a lot of factors as to why the Gnoll could not be used and to be fair to the owners, they have tried their best to move fixtures to accommodate us, But this was proving difficult and a decision had to be made to give people time to make arrangements.

"We also looked at an alternative venue in South Wales but we felt that this would reflect on the gate and the home advantage of the Gnoll would be lost anyway.

"We therefore felt the only sensible decision was to take it to Halifax and for our supporters who wish to make the trip, you can travel free of charge no matter how many buses we fill.

"I hope this explains our situation and should any supporter want a more detailed explanation come and see me at the next home game and we can gladly talk about it.

"I apologise to all our supporters who feel it was the wrong decision to move this fixture. Thanks again for your loyal support and I hope this decision can be understood and you all get on that bus support the boys and win this game!"

Halifax Chairman, Michael Steele, said: "We can understand the disappointment of Scorpions fans that they are unable to stage this match.

"However, we can assure them of a warm welcome at The Shay for what will be the first ever meeting between the two Clubs.

"I know many Halifax fans were looking forward to visiting South Wales and I'm anticipating a tremendous atmosphere and a great match with the massive prize of a place in the fifth round draw of the Carnegie Challenge Cup."
