KEY MATCH-UPS FOR FRIDAY'S NRL PRELIMINARY FINAL BETWEEN MANLY AND SOUTH SYDNEY AT ANZ STADIUM:

* Greg Inglis v Brett Stewart

Two of the premier fullbacks in the game and both vital players for their teams. The Sea Eagles have soldiered through the finals without the prolific Stewart and their decision not to rush him back from a hamstring problem looks to have been vindicated. Inglis has been struggling with a knee problem in recent weeks but, even on one leg, he's crucial to the Rabbitohs.

* Jeff Lima v Anthony Watmough

The Sea Eagles are still fuming after Lima appeared to deliberately twist Watmough's right leg in the Rabbitohs' win over Manly in Gosford in August. Watmough went into the game struggling with a knee injury and Lima's actions cost him a one-game suspension. The first time these powerful forwards go head to head on Friday will be fascinating.

* Sam Burgess v Glenn Stewart

The two kingpins of their respective forward packs. There are few better ball-playing back-rowers in the game than Stewart whose hands are better than some front-line halves in the NRL. Burgess is arguably the best forward in the world. An 80-minute player, capable of big hits, scoring tries, who is the heartbeat of Michael Maguire's side. It's no coincidence that his ability to stay fit for the past two years has resulted in Souths finishing in the top four.

* Adam Reynolds v Daly Cherry-Evans

Manly's Cherry-Evans gave a halfback masterclass in his side's gritty win over Cronulla and the Queensland representative has hit top form at precisely the right moment for his side. Reynolds' improvisation and instinct helped swing the game in Souths' favour when they last met Manly in August with his pinpoint kicking game. However, Manly will have taken notice of the way the Sydney Roosters managed to keep him quiet in the minor premiership decider.
