The Eastern Bulldogs played host to South Perth on a warm afternoon at Centenary Park on Saturday. The Lions scored first at the 6 minute mark after a good line break from Martin Collis who found support from Marcus Simmonds who cut back infield to score under the posts.

The Bulldogs had a few attacking raids at South's line but their defense held strong. After some good lead up work John Muir crashed his way over the try line when the Lions decided to run the ball on the last tackle. Muir was again in the action when he made a great run breaking the line and finding plenty of support and Collis finished it off putting the ball down over the line at the 30 minute mark to make the score 16-0.

Bulldog's prop Simon Angell put in a great little grubber kick and regathered the ball himself and ran in under the posts 3 minutes before half time. The score at the break was 16-6.

At the restart Eastern knocked on from the kick off and South Perth capitalized with Muir going in under the posts in the first minute of the second half. 10 minutes later Bulldogs captain, Angell was sent off for contrary conduct.

Muir grabbed his third try for the day at the 55 minute mark of the game and soon after made another great 50 meter run down field that ended with Steve Prout scoring under the posts and take the score to 32-6. By this stage the floodgates well and truly opened and the Lions supported the ball carrier and put on some good second phase plays to run in another 5 tries before the full time siren went. Those tries were scored courtesy of John Phipps, Isaac Thomas, Collis, Kevin Sweetman and Dwayne Baker.

South Perth's players awards went to Callum Brown, John Muir, Jon Phipps and Isaac Thomas.

Eastern Bulldogs took out the honors in Grade 36-10 with Mo Tamati a standout.
