The South Pacific Games (SPG,) scheduled for Fiji mid next year, have confirmed the participation of rugby league at the event and already 6 nations have commited themselves to the tournament.

The six countries in question are Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and a surprise, Nuie.

Nuie ave not participated in an international rugby league tournament since the mid 90's and it is great to see that the game is still played on the tiny Pacific Island.

Another pleasing aspect is the inclusion of a side from Samoa. After a string of troubles in Samoa over the last few years, it looks like the game is slowly making a comeback and it will be interesting to see how strong the once mighty Polynesian nation are.

New Caledonia may also seek participation into the event which will be another positive for the game in the Pacific.
