SYDNEY, June 6 AAP - NSW hooker Robbie Farah has been diagnosed with a broken nose and a fractured cheekbone and is in doubt for the Wests Tigers' NRL clash with Penrith on Sunday.

Farah played the full 80 minutes in Wednesday's State of Origin opener despite the injury he believed was caused accidentally by NSW skipper Paul Gallen, but underwent scans on Thursday morning.

A Tigers official said Farah will meet club doctor Donald Kuah to determine how long he will need to spend on the sidelines, but the 29-year-old says he'll be ready for game two of Origin in Brisbane.

"The face is a bit battered and sore, but the pain doesn't feel so bad after a win," Farah told AAP.

"I think it was Gal (Gallen) that did it - not only was after their blokes, but ours as well."

Farah made 53 tackles in the Blues' 14-6 win but said the huge effort from the whole team needed to be repeated at Suncorp Stadium on June 26.

"It's only one game," he said.

"It was good to get the victory, but it'll be a different beast going up to Suncorp. Queensland will be a lot better up there."

Farah singled out Jarryd Hayne for special praise after the fullback produced a storming display both in defence and attack.

Hayne scored the opening try but Farah said it was his defensive effort which should be lauded.

"Jarryd was outstanding, he had a great game, he scored but his try save on Cameron Smith came at a vital time," he said.

"There was another by Josh Morris in the first half on Darius Boyd. Those are the moments that win you games.

"They say a try saved in Origin is a good as one scored. I can't fault anyone."

"We had belief last year and, as a group, we're growing and coming together."
