THEY SAID IT: "I just wanted it more" - Michael Jennings describes his remarkable match-sealing try, in which he grounded the ball millimetres from the dead ball line after winning the chase to a James Maloney kick which appeared to have far too much weight.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Daly Cherry-Evans. A surprise choice for the Clive Churchill medal, Cherry-Evans became the first player since St George's Brad Mackay in 1993 and just the third of all time to earn the award on a losing side. The little halfback was terrific in grabbing the Sea Eagles the lead to begin the second half, making two line-breaks which would lead to tries.

KEY MOMENT: The penalty try. Points have been at such a premium between these two teams in all three previous clashes, a call of this magnitude was always going to be controversial. Jamie Lyon appeared certain to score from a Daly Cherry-Evans grubber when tackled without the ball by Roosters backrower Mitchell Aubusson. But can you say there was an element of doubt? If so, it has to go to the Roosters.

TALKING POINT: Was that the last we saw of Sonny Bill Williams in the NRL? If so, it was an almighty performance to go out on. With his team trailing by four points with 20 minutes to go, Williams made a half bust and offloaded to James Maloney to set up Shaun Kenny-Dowall and give the Roosters the lead. With the game in the balance and seven minutes from the finish, SBW broke free in midfield and scorched the turf. Two tackles later Michael Jennings was over, and so was the match.

KEY INJURIES: Roosters: Luke O'Donnell (hamstring).

WHAT'S NEXT: The Roosters do some celebrating, Manly do some soul searching and the rugby league world plays the waiting game. What will Sonny do? It's the only question that needs answering now. Let's hope he decides before the World Cup, which starts later this month - and is likely to involve a large chunk of players involved in Sunday's epic grand final.
