SNAPSHOT OF ROUND NINE OF THE N

THEY SAID IT: "He bit me on the head." Cronulla forward WADE GRAHAM complains to referee Gavin Morris that Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma bit him in Saturday night's clash. However Graham and the Sharks refused to make an official complaint and replays were inconclusive.

STAT THAT MATTERS: Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Ryan Hoffman and Billy Slater of the Melbourne Storm celebrated a combined total of 1000 games in Friday night's 27-14 win over Souths. It's the first time in NRL history four players from the one side have combined for that many matches.

MAN OF THE ROUND: BILLY SLATER. Some good judges have stated that Greg Inglis should in fact replace Slater in the No.1 jersey for Queensland this State of Origin series. But Slater produced one of the individual performances of the season going head-to-head with Inglis to leave no doubt that he's the man to play fullback for the Maroons.

MAGIC MOMENT: Brisbane centre JUSTIN HODGES pulled the rabbit out of the hat against Gold Coast on Friday night with a trick-shot for the ages. Standing at dummy-half one metre out from the Titans line, Hodges shaped to pass left, but instead flicked the ball off the ground, between his legs for his winger Dale Copley to score in the right corner.

TALKING POINT: With State of Origin teams picked on Monday and Tuesday, all the focus was on the form of the big stars. In ominous signs for NSW, Queensland stars Slater, Cooper Cronk, Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott all played out of their skin for their respective teams.

JUDICIARY WATCH: Parramatta: Darcy Lussick (high tackle), Roosters: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (high tackle), Panthers: James Segeyaro (forearm),

KEY INJURIES: Roosters: Boyd Cordner (ankle), Cowboys: Gavin Cooper (hip), Cameron King (knee), Sharks: Todd Carney (hamstring), Storm: Joel Romelo (ankle), Titans: Aidan Sezer (pectoral muscle), Will Zillman (concussion), Broncos: Justin Hodges (ankle), Ben Hannant (groin), Rabbitohs: Kirisome Auva'a (concussion), Kyle Turner (concussion), Warriors: Sione Lousi (knee)

UNDER PRESSURE: The Dragons brains trust, coach STEVE PRICE and halfback BENJI MARSHALL, have two weeks to work out how they're going to save their season. The big red V have conceded over 100 points in the past three weeks and are now well outside the top eight. In the bye week, Marshall might be asked to turn out for NSW Cup feeder team the Illawarra Cutters.
