Leeds Rhinos have agreed a new three year contract with 20-year-old forward Alex Foster that will keep him at Headingley Carnegie until at least the end of the 2016 Super League season.

The former Wetherby Bulldogs youngster made his debut at Widnes at the end of June and went on to play the next eight Super League fixtures for Leeds having emerged from the club's Under 19 side.

Commenting on the new contract, Rhinos Head Coach Brian McDermott said, "Alex did a great job for us last season and showed that he has a big future in Super League if he continues to work hard. He has had tremendous support from his family and amateur club at Wetherby Bulldogs and I think it is a credit to them how Alex has acquitted himself so far and I am sure they are very proud of him.”

Foster, who scored his first try for the club in the win at London in August, added, "I feel like I have been rewarded for my efforts last season with a three year contract and that is a massive boost to my confidence. The senior players were great with me last season and I am looking forward to a big pre-season and continuing to learn from them and the coaching staff. There is a great group of young players also coming through at the club and it is nice to be part of that group. I am sure we can look forward to some exciting times in the years to come."
