SYDNEY, July 17 AAP - South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds says he'll be fit to face St George Illawarra on Saturday after injuring his ankle in Monday's heroic 24-22 win over Sydney Roosters.

Trailing 22-12 with two minutes remaining, Souths scored two tries in the final two minutes in a smash-and-grab effort that mirrored the Roosters' win over their bitter rivals in round one.

Reynolds scored the winning try and kicked the conversion to win the game despite playing most of the match with an ankle injury after his foot was caught underneath Roosters centre Mitch Aubusson.

He was assessed by the club doctor on Tuesday at the team's recovery session and was given the all clear to face the Dragons at ANZ Stadium.

"It was just above the ankle, it's a bit of a sprain, nothing major, I'll be sweet for next week," Reynolds said.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric first season in the NRL and said scoring the decisive four-pointer in front of the posts and celebrating with the delirious Souths supporters behind the goal at Allianz Stadium was a memory he won't forget.

"It was special. I was so happy to score the try," he said.

"It was up there with one of the best feelings of my career. I kicked a winning field goal earlier in the year to beat the Dragons. That was great. But in this game we never gave up, the boys dug deep and we got the points.

"And being against the Roosters made even more special."
