FC have put assistant coach Lee Radford back on stand-by after the club's injury curse struck once more.

The 33-year-old forward retired at the end of last season but was pressed into action earlier this year when he answered an injury crisis by making three Stobart Super League appearances.

Now the club have lost forwards Sam Moa and Danny Tickle for the rest of the season with arm injuries which may require surgery and Radford has been told to take his boots with him for tomorrow's game at Leeds Rhinos.

"Lee has been chomping at the bit ever since he last played for us," said coach Peter Gentle. "That is the sort of character he is and he still leaves his boots in the coaching office all cleaned up just in case!

"He is the perfect person to have around the place at a time like this. He keeps himself fit and strong and his enthusiasm and commitment when he plays makes up for any short falls in training or match fitness.

"It could be one option for us and, should we go that way again, I am under no illusions that he can go into our team and do a job for us, just like he did earlier this season."

Tickle and Moa both pulled out of last night's international origin game after joining Danny Houghton and Mark O'Meley on the injury list and Gentle has also called up 22-year-old prop Chris Green for what would be his second Super League appearance.

"It's obviously a huge blow to lose two more of your first-team squad for such a long period of time, particularly players like Sam and Ticks who are a key part of our team," added Gentle.

Hull have already signed Liam Watts and Jay Pitts this season from Hull KR and Leeds respectively and they are considering going back into the transfer market.

The club have funds available following the recent release of Jamie Ellis and Eamon O'Carroll.
