Upset results, along with sides seemingly out of form has seen an ever changing makeup of the final 8 in the 2012 NRL.
As close as 2 weeks ago some sides looked assured of a finals berth while others would more than likely be checking travel brochures.
Bulldogs, Souths and Melbourne look a 'given', Nth Qld, Brisbane and Manly are breathing easier than most while as many as 5 or 6 will fight out the remaining 2 positions.
Cronulla, Warriors and Wests Tigers can't wait to see the back of July as between them they collected only 2 points each from the last 4 rounds of the competition. Cronulla only gained their points from a bye!
Gold Coast and Newcastle, on the other hand, are both firing with 3 wins each from their last 4 matches and join Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra on 22 points. The Titans take eighth spot on for and against.
It doesn't get any easier for those sides looking to make the final 8 with Cronulla travelling to NZ to meet the Warriors, Newcastle hosting competition leaders Bulldogs, Gold Coast play Souths and Wests Tigers meet a resurgent Parramatta on Monday night with the Eels coming off wins against heavyweights Melbourne and Brisbane over the last 2 weeks.
