SYDNEY, July 17 AAP - Queensland player ratings for State of Origin III at ANZ Stadium:

1. BILLY SLATER - James McManus had him clutching at air for NSW's only try but was safe at the back and pulled off a couple of big plays late. 7.

2. DARIUS BOYD - Rushed up on McManus and got stepped for Blues' only try and was lucky with a fingertip in-goal grounding on another occasion. 6.

3. GREG INGLIS - Spilt a bomb, made a poor grab on McManus, was completely kept in check and conceded two penalties. 5.5.

4. JUSTIN HODGES - Pulled off two trysaving tackles and ran a great line to score what ultimately proved the series-clinching try. Superb. 8.

5. BRENT TATE - His hands let him down and was uncertain under the high ball but was otherwise outstanding with many of his 14 runs getting the Maroons out of trouble. 7.5.

6. JOHNATHAN THURSTON - Beat several lazy NSW defenders with his footwork to score the opening try and his flawless goalkicking proved decisive. 7.5.

7. COOPER CRONK - Killed his NSW opposite for last-play options and delivered a beautiful short ball for Hodges' four-pointer. 7.5.

8. MATT SCOTT - A tireless front-rower's performance, making 35 tackles and 140 metres with the ball tucked under his arm. 8.

9. CAMERON SMITH - Effected a game-high 45 tackles and organised ably from dummy-half in a typically strong captain's knock. 7.5

10. NATE MYLES - Gave Queensland good go-forward and the side missed his punch when he was off the park. 7.

11. CHRIS MCQUEEN - Produced an error-free game and was busy all night in both attack and defence. 7.

12. SAM THAIDAY - Tireless ball-carrying effort, particularly in the first half. Did however concede an important penalty to put NSW on the attack. 7.

13. COREY PARKER - Another non-stop effort from the Maroons' workaholic back-rower. 7.5

14. DALY CHERRY-EVANS - Provided some spark when thrown on late. 6.

15. BEN TE'O - Ran with vigour when injected into the play. 6.5.

16. MATT GILLETT - Gave up two penalties but more than atoned with a big defensive display. 7.

17. JOSH PAPALII - Provided the Maroons some much-needed energy when the starting forwards were tiring. 6.5.
