halfback Robert Lui enhanced his chances of an NRL recall after starring in the Northern Pride's 50-16 victory over the Souths Logan Magpies at Barlow Park on Saturday night.

Playing his third game in the Intrust Super Cup this season, Lui was more in sync with his teammates than his previous two outings and the Pride reaped the benefits as they ran in nine tries in the 34-point rout.

The home side virtually had the match won at halftime when it went into the sheds leading 28-10.

The Pride opened scoring after two minutes through captain Ty Williams, who pushed through some feeble goal-line defence from the visitors.

A 60m bust from centre Brett Anderson not long after set up the Pride's second try. Two tackles after Anderson was brought down, second-rower Ben Spina barged over near the posts.

Five-eighth Shaun Nona landed the conversion, giving the Pride a 10-0 lead.

The Cairns team appeared to be cruising but momentum soon swung towards the Magpies.

Following a dreadful spilt bomb from Pride fullback Hezron Murgha, the Magpies found space down the left edge for winger Dallas Anderson to dive over in the corner.

A converted try to centre Nick Doyle a couple of minutes later had the Magpies level with the Pride at 10-all.

But that's as close as the Brisbane side would come. Cowboys prop Ricky Thorby found the line after a well-timed inside ball from Lui before the No.7 did it all himself with brilliant footwork in the 36th minute.

When a chip kick bounced perfectly for Murgha and Nona nailed his third consecutive conversion, the Pride had scored 18 points in the final 15 minutes of the half.

The home team emphasised their dominance early in the second half when second-rower Davin Crampton scored 20 seconds after the restart following a Magpies error.

The visitors had some joy when forward Chris Faust broke free of a tackle and scrambled over the tryline in the 51st minute, but the Pride quickly reminded them how far off the pace they were.

Anderson showed he was over the hip complaint that ruled him out the previous week by sprinting 70m to score under the posts before tries to Williams and winger Wayne Ulugia helped bring up the half century.

NORTHERN PRIDE 50 (Ty Williams 2, Hezron Murgha, Wayne Ulugia, Brett Anderson, Robert Lui, Ricky Thorby, Ben Spina, Davin Crampton tries; Shaun Nona 7 goals) def SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES 16 (Dallas Anderson, Nick Doyle, Chris Faust tries; Nick Doyle 2 goals) at Barlow Park.
