Tweed Heads remain in contention for a top three finish after a comfortable 44-12 victory over the Sunshine Coast.

Phil Graham and Ryan James scored doubles for the Seagulls, who led 18-0 at half-time.

Tweed skipper Brad Davis had a huge hand in both of Graham's tries, with the Gold Coast Titans contracted speedster's first coming after the veteran Seagulls playmaker put a grubber in behind the line for Tom Merritt.

Merritt won the race for the ball and threw it back on the inside for Graham who did the rest.

There was a touch of class about Graham's second try as well when Davis made a clean break and then linked with the former Raider.

Big Sunshine Coast centre Mitchell Buckett did his best to lift the Sea Eagles with a bustling second-half line break.

A quick shift to the left and a great pass from Justin Otto led to a Jye Ballinger try.

But that was the last moment of joy for the Sea Eagles, who will need to beat the Burleigh Bears next weekend to be a chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.

Tweed Heads will play Souths Logan in their last regular season fixture.

A Tweed win would give Ben Anderson's team a chance of snatching the all-important third spot.

But for that to happen, Ipswich would have to lose to the Norths Devils, who are locked in a fierce tussle with Easts Tigers and Northern Pride for the fifth and final spot in the semi-finals.

TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS 44 (Phil Graham 2, Ryan James 2, Brad Lees, Rod Griffin, Tom Kingston, Michael Parker-Walshe tries; Brad Davis 6 goals) def SUNSHINE COAST SEA EAGLES 12 (Andrew Zaro, Jye Ballinger tries; Justin Otto 2 goals) at Piggabeen Sports.
