Northern Pride and Norths Devils played out an enthralling 28-28 draw at Barlow Park in Cairns.

In a dramatic finish, the Devils crossed in the final minute through Keiran English and young centre Joel Bailey held his nerve to land the conversion.

Only minutes earlier, the Pride's Ryan Ghietti missed with a field goal attempt that would have given the northerners an unassailable seven point lead.

The sixth-placed Devils (22) and seventh-placed Pride (21) are still in contention for the top five, but both clubs would need to win their remaining two matches and would need other results to fall their way to push their campaigns into September.

The Pride led last night's match 18-16 at half-time but Devils utility Jacob Samoa was the first to cross in the second half.

However, quick-fire tries from Hezron Murgha and Blake Leary put the Pride back in front 28-22 before the Devils mustered one last attacking raid.

NORTHERN PRIDE 28 (Blake Leary 2, Hezron Murgha, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Ben Laity tries; Cory Paterson 3, Shaun Nona goals) drew NORTHS DEVILS 28 (Keiran English 2, Matt Smith, Natthan Cleaver, Jacob Samoa tries; Joel Bailey 4 goals) at Barlow Park.
