Pettybourne, a South Sydney junior from the Mascot Jets club, has played 78 NRL games for the Rabbitohs since making his debut against the North Queensland Cowboys in 2007.
Pettybourne rose through the junior representative ranks at South Sydney to play first grade, and was selected in the New Zealand Four Nations squad in 2009 despite not playing in any Test matches.
Rabbitohs Head Coach is looking forward to getting his best football out of Pettybourne for the remainder of the 2012 season.
"Eddy has been a big part of this Club for a number of years and is an important part of our 2012 season as well," Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire said.
"He's improved his game each week, but this is a big opportunity for Eddy and we wish him the best of luck with his move to the Tigers at season's end."
