With the RLIF announcing on Wednesday this week that the World 7's may be back on the agenda for 2006 and beyond, where should it be played?

Why keep it to Sydney? The NRL clubs won't be participating as Individual clubs, rather Australia will be represented as a National side, with the best 10-12 players in the country for the format selected.

So does it need to be stages in Sydney at Aussie Stadium?
I believe it doesn't.

Why not take the 7's to an emerging nation like the USA?
Follow up on the International that is taking place next week between the Australian Kangaroos and the USA Tomahawks. Lets give the USA some more exposure.

What about taking it to Moscow?

What I'm getting at, with the above 2 countries is that they are starting to develop as Rugby League nations, let's help give them a boost or a kick along.
The Americans are going to see the best talent in Australia on show next week, and it will be telecast live into the USA, so lets make sure that this work and effort is not for nothing.
Lets ensure that Rugby League continues to spread it's powerful wings into this sporting mad nation.
Could you imagine how quickly League would grow if the markets in the USA & Russia took off. The prospects are exciting and mouth-watering for all Rugby League lovers world wide.

So that brings me back to my original point.
The 7's are a show piece event for Rugby League, played at incredible speed, yet the skills and toughness of the 13 a-side game is still on display. It is an exciting brand of footy to watch. So lets promote it decently for a change and help out the smaller countries who are just getting to learn about the great game.

Take it to the USA in 2006, take it Russia in 2007, Lebanon in 2008, France in 2009, Holland in 2010, PNG, Fiji, Ireland, Wales and so on...
Don't restrict it to the Rugby League heartland, let it get out to the other nations who are not as familiar with the game as what we all are.

The NRL clubs would not really have anything to complain about, as only 10-12 players would be picked, so really how many from each club could be picked? You would not think that more then 4(max) from any 1 club would be picked.
And as the 7's is a different style of League you would find many of the players in the current Kangaroo squad would not be picked.

Players like Amos Roberts, Mark Gasnier, Billy Slater, Matt Orford and Rhys Wesser are all made for the fast pace that is 7 a side Rugby League, yet they are not in the Kangaroo squad.

Could you imagine the thrill these players mentioned above would get being selected for Australia and getting to travel to the other side of the world to play for their nation.

It is a innovation I would the RLIF to implement, and hopefully not give in to the powerful NRL & ESL clubs.

Glad to hear any feedback on this topic that you may have.
