NSW penpix for 2013 State of Origin game three against Queensland at ANZ stadium on Wednesday night.

NSW

JOSH DUGAN - fullback

Age: 23

Origin games: 2

Keeps his spot after being one of the few strong performers in game two. Strong in attack and more than capable in defence - a potential game breaker.

BRETT MORRIS - wing

Age: 26

Origin games: 8

Scorer of the Blues' only try in game two and a devastating finisher on his day.

MICHAEL JENNINGS - centre

Age: 25

Origin games: 9

One of the fastest, most elusive men in the NRL has benefited hugely from his switch to a star-studded Sydney Roosters team this year. Scored a brilliant try in game one. Needs to keep his discipline.

JOSH MORRIS - centre

Age: 26

Origin games: 7

Very strong in game one but had his defence severely tested in game two when Queensland targeted the Blues' right-side, in particular wing partner Nathan Merritt. Capable of scoring outstanding tries as he showed in last year's decider.

JAMES McMANUS - wing

Age: 27

Origin games: 1

Recalled to the Blues for the first time since 2009 to replace injured star Jarryd Hayne and is on a red-hot run with five tries in his last two games for Newcastle.

JAMES MALONEY - five-eighth

Age: 27

Origin games: 2

Had a tough night in Brisbane when Queensland targeted him in defence but will be boosted by the confidence gained in game one in front of home fans back where he enjoyed an outstanding debut.

MITCHELL PEARCE - halfback

Age: 24

Origin games: 11

Now or never for Pearce who needs a commanding performance to keep his spot. A third successive series defeat with him at the helm throughout would almost certainly see him slip behind Adam Reynolds in the pecking order next year.

AARON WOODS

Age: 22

Origin games 1

Had a taste of Origin in game two and struggled to replicate his club form for the Wests Tigers but will almost certainly be better for the run.

ROBBIE FARAH (capt) - hooker

Age: 29

Origin games: 7

Big shoes to fill as skipper in place of injured Paul Gallen and also holds key to the Blues' hopes in his role as scheming hooker. Voted NSW player of the series last year and must be at his tenacious and attacking best.

JAMES TAMOU - prop

Age: 24

Origin games: 4

Missed game two after being stood down for high-range drink-driving by the NRL. Owes his team a big display after being off the pace in the series opener.

LUKE LEWIS - second row

Age: 29

Origin games: 13

Has been the stand-out player for NSW this year. Relishing being an 80-minute player after being the interchange king for so long. The only man in the side to taste a series win - in 2004 as a winger.

RYAN HOFFMAN - second row

Age: 29

Origin games: 7

Vastly experienced Melbourne back-rower has a key job on his hands to offer Maloney some protection from the marauding Maroons. Solid performer who goes about his job in an unfussy but highly effective manner.

GREG BIRD - lock

Age: 29

Origin games: 13

Teak-tough and super-consistent, Bird is desperate to win a first series having made his debut in 2007. Living and playing on the Gold Coast has added to that desire and shapes as one of the key men for Laurie Daley.

INTERCHANGE

ANTHONY WATMOUGH - back rower

Age: 30

Origin games: 11

Hard-working back-rower with one of the biggest engines in the game. Played one game in the 2005 series win - the last by the Blues - and has the class to be a big factor off the bench.

ANDREW FIFITA - prop

Age: 24

Origin games: 2

Has been a revelation since his debut in game one. Makes huge metres and has no regard for reputations. One of the most in-form players around and one of a few Blues able to hold their heads high after game two.

BOYD CORDNER

Age: 21

Origin games: 0

One of the best young back-rowers in the NRL and has long been tipped for a lengthy Origin career. Usurped Josh Reynolds for a place on the bench after Gallen's injury.

TRENT MERRIN - utility

Age 23

Origin games 6

Finally gets the chance to play in a series decider after being axed for game three in 2011 and 2012. Sin-binned in game two for punching Brent Tate.
