SYDNEY, Nov 27 AAP - In-demand NRL young gun Anthony Milford will return to play one final season with Canberra next year before he heads home to Brisbane in 2015.

Milford on Wednesday agreed to a two-year deal with the Broncos, but will first have to see out the remainder of his contract at the Raiders in 2014.

The 19-year-old had requested a release from Canberra so he could return to Queensland and be closer to his ill father.

"Anthony has obviously made it clear he had a desire to return to Brisbane, and it is good that the club and his management have been able to come to an agreement that will allow him to do that," Broncos coach Anthony Griffin said in a statement.

"Anthony is a wonderful young talent who we have known about for several years as he grew up in the Logan area.

"He will be a great addition to our squad when he comes on board for the 2015 and 2016 seasons."

Raiders chief executive Don Furner acknowledged that Milford had battled homesickness and was very close to his family, but said he was pleased club was able to retain him for another season.

Milford is currently on holiday in Samoa, having played for the island nation at the Rugby League World Cup before they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

He will return to pre-season training with the Raiders on December 16.
