BRISBANE, March 29 AAP - A super slick Melbourne poured on four tries, two of them to fullback Billy Slater, to lead Brisbane 20-6 at half time in their NRL Good Friday clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane were forced to make a late change with Jordan Kahu handed his NRL debut in place of star centre Justin Hodges who pulled out with a hamstring injury.

Melbourne were on the scoreboard after just three minutes when Junior Sa'u steamed through Kahu out wide.

They made it 8-0 six minutes later when Slater sprinted through a massive hole from a scrum win.

Brisbane skipper Sam Thaiday protested to the referees he was held in the scrum, but the try stood for an 8-0 lead.

That soon became 14-0 with Slater beating Brisbane to a Cameron Smith grubber kick out of dummy half.

Brisbane finally retaliated with the video referees awarding winger Josh Hoffman a try in the left corner despite the desperate efforts of Storm pair Will Chambers and Cooper Cronk to held him up.

However Melbourne were not finished, producing the try of the half that went 75 metres before winger Matt Duffie scored after Slater has swooped on a clever Cronk chip kick.
