SYDNEY, Sept 21 AAP - Manly's walking wounded are confident of being fit to face South Sydney in next Friday's NRL preliminary final eliminator after clambering over a fast-finishing Cronulla.

The Sea Eagles held off a late surge from the Sharks, who had a Paul Gallen try denied after John Morris was judged to have dragged down Matt Ballin at marker in the lead-up to what would have been a momentum-shifting four points.

Anthony Watmough limped off 20 minutes from the end of the 24-18 victory with his troublesome knee but the NSW back-rower vowed to be on the field at ANZ Stadium to try to beat the Rabbitohs for the first time in three attempts.

"It's a bit stiff and no worse than it was last week," Watmough told AAP.

"When you have a big win like that the pain doesn't feel so bad. But we are one game from a grand final and I am desperate to be out with the boys."

Brent Kite was left sporting a cut lip and has been nursing a scaphoid bone problem in his right hand since round one.

The former NSW prop and 2008 Clive Churchill Medallist is moving to Penrith for next season and will go under the knife at the end of the year.

"It does need surgery, but it is the type that will keep me out for a while so I have put it off until the off-season," Kite said.

"It does hurt, but I don't think I have ever played a game where a part of my body doesn't.

"It's something you don't worry about too much."

Skipper Jamie Lyon was sporting an ice pack on his left leg after the game, having gone down in a heap early in the second half.

Lyon was able to play out the game but did look in some discomfort in the change rooms.

"It's a bit sore and I will see how I pull up tomorrow," he said.

"But I am pretty hopeful I'll be right - it's a huge game and you never want to miss them.

"But it should be fine."
