SYDNEY, Aug 24 AAP - Brisbane are in danger of dropping out of the NRL top eight after Manly produced a clinical 40 minutes to take a 16-0 halftime lead at Brookvale Oval.

Needing a win to ensure they enter the final round in the top half of the ladder, the Broncos had no answer to a Sea Eagles machine which purred once it clicked into gear.

Three tries in the space of 11 minutes - including a brilliant double to Brett Stewart - gave the Sea Eagles a healthy advantage which could have been larger had Glenn Stewart not been held up over the line two minutes from the break.

Manly went to Tony Williams early but he was twice denied by some desperate defence before a Brett Stewart bust set up Jamie Lyon's opener on 17 minutes.

The fullback steamed onto a Kieran Foran chip kick for his first three minutes later before Daly Cherry-Evans 40-20 provided the impetus for his second just before the half hour.
