LONDON, Nov 18 NZN - The Kiwis' NRL contingent are divided over whether or not the competition should introduce the `captain's challenge' call next season.

The system was trialled in the Under-20s competition last season, with skippers allowed one correct challenge on a referee's call per half.

The challenge spared the referees a number of game-changing blemishes during the finals and could have saved the NRL the embarrassment of the seven-tackle try scored by Cronulla in their elimination final win over North Queensland.

Warriors prop Ben Matulino says if it was introduced his side would benefit from the captain's challenge.

"I think it'll help out most teams, the referee's calls have cost most teams at some stage, even some a spot in the top eight. I'm all for it."

Matulino, who is currently in camp with New Zealand ahead of their World Cup semi-final against England, even believes it would ensure his club got a fair rub of the green in every game.

"Coming from the Warriors, we seem to get all the penalties against us, I think the captain's challenge would work for our team," Matulino said.

Leading referee Jared Maxwell is also supporting the move saying anything that improved the level of officiating was worthy of consideration.

However, not every player is for introducing the captain's challenge.

Kiwis utility Alex Glenn, who plays for the Brisbane Broncos, believes the game is becoming too convoluted.

"To be honest I thing they're throwing in a bit too many rules. I think they need to cut a few of them and just get back to good basic football," Glenn said.

"Even the two refs, I'm not fussed with that, but it has become a bit of a hesitant call when you have two people making the decisions."

Manu Vatuvei remains the only injury concern for the Kiwis ahead of their date with England at Wembley, with the big winger battling with a groin complaint.
