City flying winger Jodie Broughton may have graduated University with flying colours recently, but the free-scoring number two will now look to the remainder of the season to see if Salford's 'Class of 2012' can grasp a final chance to make the Super League Playoffs.

The Reds this morning were handed a lifeline to the top eight as the RFL deducted six points from 7th placed Bradford due to their administration worries.

The deduction, which comes into immediate effect, leaves the Reds and Bradford placed 10th and 9th respectively on 17 points, with Hull KR currently occupying the last berth with 19 points.

Broughton though, who scooped a 2:1 degree in Quantity Surveying after studying for the past five years is pleased he can now put everything into one final charge at glory.

"It's been a roller coaster. Every day after training I was hammering into the books and at weekends as well," he told The Sun.

"Salford were brilliant, giving me mornings off if I had presentations to do for my course. But I've been playing a lot better recently. I don't know whether the university work was having an effect but now it's over it's taken a bit of pressure off."

The Reds travel to Hull on Sunday looking to continue the Playoff chase.
