Titans duo Jamal Idris and Luke Douglas today wound back the clock as they joined Year 3 students at Hillcrest Christian College for a combination of fun-filled reading and rugby league coaching drills.
Displaying the sort of teamwork which has the seen the club record four wins from their past five matches, the pair teamed up to read "Maybe You Should Fly A Jet! Maybe You Should Be A Vet!" with the kids, before heading outside for some rugby league coaching drills.
The pair have been heavily involved with community work since joining the Titans in the off-season and Yamba-born Douglas said it was an important aspect to being a modern day rugby league player.
"I think it's really important,'' said Douglas.
"I'm a country boy and we loved it - I think the Broncos and St George came to our school when I was young and little kids thrive off that sort of stuff.
"It's good to get out here and get amongst them.''
Douglas said it was no surprise to see new investors joining the club late last week given how much emphasis the Titans place on engaging with the local community.
"You saw the investors come on board and that's due to all the stuff we do in the community like this sort of stuff,'' he said.
Larger than life character Idris proved a hit with the kids with his animated reading style and the 21-year-old admitted he was never the quietest of students when he attended school.
"I was loud, I'm not going to lie to you - I wanted to be quiet but I just couldn't help it,'' he joked.
