Hull FC veteran Richard Horne will miss Friday's clash with Wigan Warriors after being omitted from head coach Peter Gentle's squad for the trip to the DW Stadium.

The ball-player pulled out of Sunday's 34-26 win over Salford City Reds with a groin injury and drops out of the squad to face the league leaders, along with young prop Josh Bowden.

Their places in the 19-man squad are taken by Danny Nicklas and Mark O'Meley, two late call-ups to the side which beat the Reds last time out after overcoming knee and calf injuries respectively.

Meanwhile, Richard Whiting and Danny Houghton will be given as long as possible to prove their fitness ahead of trip to Wigan, after the former missed Sunday's visit of Salford and the latter failed to feature in the second half.

Squad: Aspinwall, T Briscoe, Foster, Green, Heremaia, Houghton, Lineham, Lynch, Manu, McGoldrick, Nicklas, O'Meley, Pitts, Seymour, Turner, Watts, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman.
