BRISBANE, July 4 AAP - Highlights from the first half of the State of Origin decider between Queensland and NSW at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.

2nd minute: Brent Tate reacts to a Tim Grant high shot, sparking a mini-brawl. Maroons are awarded the penalty.

6m: Blues winger Brett Morris makes a long-range break. Halves Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk drag him down but, from the ensuing play, Corey Parker is penalised for being offside and Todd Carney kicks the penalty goal. NSW 2-0.

13m: Brett Morris barges over the line from dummy-half. Sam Thaiday fails to stop Morris grounding the ball. Video referee Steve Clark awards the try, which Carney converts. NSW 8-0.

15m: Blues hooker Robbie Farah is hurt in a head collision with Nate Myles. He stays on the field.

19m: Maroons winger Darius Boyd scores in the left corner off a superb cut-out pass from Thurston, who fails to convert. NSW 8-4.

24m: Queensland centre Justin Hodges bombs a try when he passes close to the line instead of backing himself to power over.

27m: NSW forward Ben Creagh leaves the field after suffering a head cut in a David Shillington tackle.

32m: Thurston starts and finishes an 80m try for Queensland against the run of play. He scores from a Parker offload on the fifth tackle and then converts his own try. QLD 10-8.

35m: Hodges scores a try soon after NSW puts kickoff out on the full. The video referee rules Blues back-rower Beau Scott is not obstructed in trying to tackle Hodges as he runs toward the line. Thurston converts. QLD 16-8.
