SYDNEY, May 27 AAP - NSW veteran Jarryd Hayne claims Queensland's seven straight State of Origin series wins do not grate on him and that looking back at previous losses will achieve nothing ahead of the June 5 opener at ANZ Stadium.

Despite being just 25, Hayne is comfortably the most-experienced player in the Blues camp with 16 Origin appearances to his name - two more than skipper Paul Gallen - and has featured in the past six series having made his debut in game one in 2007.

"Not really," was Hayne's blunt response when asked if not being part of winning series played on his mind.

"You can't look backwards and wonder 'what if?'. You have to move on and put it out of your mind."

Hayne admitted he was bitterly disappointed after last year's 21-20 defeat in the final match of the series in Brisbane.

The Parramatta skipper had a great opportunity to score late in the game when he almost soared away down the wing, only to get his legs tangled following a desperate ankle tap from Darius Boyd and the chance went begging.

"I thought I was away and it would have won the game if I had scored but it wasn't to be.

"But as soon as I was back in the sheds, I had to forget about it. There is nothing more I could have done."

Despite his philosophical view on why NSW have not won a series since 2005, Hayne - who will play as Blues fullback for the first time since 2010 - said nothing would give him more pleasure than to end the Maroons era of dominance.

"We have two games at home, and that will hopefully count for something," he told AAP.

"The team picked is a strong one and we think we have a great chance."
