MELBOURNE, June 5 AAP - The Melbourne Storm are banking on Tohu Harris being Mr Fix-it with the Kiwi the latest to wear the problematic five-eighth jersey for their NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters.

Harris will move from lock to No.6 for their Sunday afternoon clash at AAMI Park, partnering Ben Roberts who is covering for the injured Cooper Cronk.

Following Gareth Widdop's off-season departure, Roberts, Ben Hampton and Joel Romelo have all played five-eighth this season with each finishing injured or suspended.

Cody Walker was set for an appearance before hurting his hamstring during training.

Harris, 22, is no stranger to the role, a surprise choice there for the Anzac Test against Australia in May.

He scored a first half try as the Kiwis led 18-12 at halftime before being overrun by the Kangaroos.

Storm prop Bryan Norrie backed Harris to do the job against the defending premiers who have won five of their last six games to sit fifth on the competition ladder.

"Tohu's got such a cool head and he's a very calm character," Norrie said.

"He's an unbelievable back-rower ... but the fact that he can play on an edge and play really well shows the sort of talent he is.

"He played for the Kiwis at five-eighth and did a really good job.

"Hopefully we can get a bit of cohesion there and work with it for a couple of weeks."

Norrie said the quietly-spoken Harris was doing his best to be vocal at training, with the Storm badly missing Cronk who broke his arm early in the opening State of Origin.

The Test halfback, as well as injured fullback Billy Slater, were sidelined for last round's loss to North Queensland with their attack failing to fire in a 22-0 loss which left them ninth.

"Obviously we were disappointed with our attack," Norrie said.

"Losing Cooper Cronk, he's massive to any team.

"We've done a lot of attack this week so hopefully we can improve from last week."
