Wigan coach Shaun Wane has revealed second rower Harrison Hansen broke his jaw in last weeks 42-16 win over St Helens.
Hansen, who has played in all 15 of his side's league games so far this year, is facing a lay-off of up to six weeks.
"He's broken his jaw and might need it plating," said Wane. "He picked up the injury and managed to stay on the field for another 10 minutes.
"It is disappointing for him but it gives an opportunity for someone from our Under-20s to get a chance."
Wigan are already without prop Paul Prescott, who is nursing a knee injury, and fellow front rower Lee Mossop will sit out Friday's game after accepting an early-guilty plea for his part in the second-half brawl against Saints.
Two other forwards, Gareth Hock and Chris Tuson, will discover their fate later today when they appear in front of the Rugby Football League's disciplinary panel following their dismissal in that match for punching.
With Ben Flower also sidelined with an ankle injury, Wane is likely to give a debut to another Welsh second rower, Rhodri Lloyd, who has impressed in Wigan's reserve-grade team.
"Rhodri is a good player and he has done well this season," said Wane. "He played in one of the pre-season games and didn't look out of place."
