Canterbury-Bankstown continue to strengthen their 2013 roster with the re-signing of tough second-rower and 2011 Ken Stephen nominee, Dene Halatau this week as part of the club's five re-signings in five days.
Halatau has started in all sixteen games for the Bulldogs in 2012 and is having one of his strongest seasons since joining the club in 2010 from the Wests Tigers, where he debuted back in 2003.
Halatau, who has played 171 NRL games is thoroughly enjoying his football this year under new head coach Des Hasler.
"I am having a good run around this year, we have a fairly young and excited team and learning under a new coach has been great, said Halatau. I am having a ball and the opportunity to play another season with these guys and another year under Des is such a great opportunity i didn't want to pass up."
The Bulldogs have long been recognised as a family club which was a contributing factor in Halatau's decision.
"I came to the Bulldogs from the Tigers in 2010 where i had spent seven years so i was fairly ingrained in the club and it was a big change to move. As soon as i got here i noticed the Bulldogs were a family club. I felt at home straight away and the club made my family feel welcome too.
"To continue to be a part of that is pretty special to me and i really didn't want to change clubs. To get another year at the Bulldogs is something i am happy with and it is great to know the club has shown great faith in me.
Halatau has proven to be a great club man both on and off the field during his time at the Bulldogs with his efforts recognised as the club's nominee for the 2011 Ken Stephen Medal, the highest community accolade an NRL player can receive for his work with the RSPCA and Camp Quality.
"The club is very strong and active in the community, said Dene. To get the opportunity as NRL players to go in to the community and put a smile on people's faces is very rewarding and satisfying and something i hope i can continue to do."
Bulldogs Chief Executive Officer Todd Greenberg says Halatau's re-signing is a two-way vote of confidence for both the player and Club.
"Dene really adds value to our Club across the board and I'm looking forward to him being a part of the Bulldogs for next year," Greenberg says.
"He's a good person, a good footballer and a great role model. Dene is the type of person we want around the Club long term."

Dene Halatua's re-signing with the Bulldogs is re-signing number three of this week's five signings in five days as part of our Final 5 Membership Drive.
Membership is the back bone of our club and a driving factor in the player's performance on the field each week. Dene Halatau thinks every fan should sign up and become a member.
"It is a great club, with a great culture and the best part about it is the support we get from our members.
"It is something we notice and feel when we are out on the field. The more fans we can get to become members, all means well for the future of the Bulldogs and will help us build to be an even greater club than what it is now. So get on board!" said Dene.
