Good news, bad news for injured Warriors duo

coach Brian McClennan delivered a good news-bad news bulletin on two of the club's injured players.
Less than two weeks after surgery on his left knee, the club's try-scoring record holder Manu Vatuvei ran impressively at today's training session suggesting he'll be ready to play again sooner rather than later.
Vatuvei was ruled out of the June 16 match against Cronulla and, after further assessment early the following week, was booked in for surgery on June 22. It was expected he would be out for three-four weeks leaving him most likely to return for the Vodafone Warriors' 20th-round match against Newcastle at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday, July 21.
But McClennan said there was now room for confidence he would be back earlier.
"Manu went really well at training today," he said.
"He won't be ready for this week but the signs are looking good for him to be available the following week against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium (on Friday, July 13). That's really good news."
However, the omens aren't encouraging for fullback-winger Glen Fisiiahi.
He wasn't considered to replace Vatuvei against Cronulla due to a niggling knee injury. A week later Fisiiahi was named on the left wing to face North Queensland only to have more problems with the knee in an opposed training session with the Vodafone Junior Warriors last Thursday night. It resulted in Omar Slaimankhel again being called in as a replacement.
Today's news was no better for the 21-year-old Fisiiahi.
"It appears he has ruptured his PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) and, if that's the case, he will be out for 6-8 weeks," said McClennan.
"He hasn't had a lot of luck. It is part of our business but it's a shame. We would love to give him more opportunities because he's such an exciting prospect."
It means Fisiiahi isn't likely to be available again until towards the end of the regular season.
