SYDNEY, June 6 AAP - NSW hooker Robbie Farah is facing a race against time to be fit for game two of State of Origin after being diagnosed with a broken nose and fractured cheekbone.

Farah will miss two to three weeks of action putting him doubt for the June 26 clash at Suncorp Stadium against Queensland.

The Blues need to win to seal a first series win since 2005 having won the opening match 14-6 on Wednesday night.

Farah played the full 80 minutes despite the injury which was caused accidentally by NSW skipper Paul Gallen but said he is hopeful of being fit to face Queensland.

"Unfortunately I've fractured my cheekbone and broken my nose (again!).Will miss 2-3 wks - confident ill be back for Game 2," Farah tweeted.

The news is a further setback for the struggling Wests Tigers who face Penrith on Sunday with a number of key players still sidelined.

Farah made 53 tackles in the Blues' 14-6 win but said the huge effort from the whole team needed to be repeated at Suncorp Stadium on June 26.

"It's only one game," he told AAP.

"It was good to get the victory, but it'll be a different beast going up to Suncorp. Queensland will be a lot better up there."

Farah singled out Jarryd Hayne for special praise after the fullback produced a storming display both in defence and attack.

Hayne scored the opening try but Farah said it was his defensive effort which should be lauded.

"Jarryd was outstanding, he had a great game, he scored but his try save on Cameron Smith came at a vital time," he said.

"There was another by Josh Morris in the first half on Darius Boyd. Those are the moments that win you games.

"They say a try saved in Origin is a good as one scored. I can't fault anyone."

"We had belief last year and, as a group, we're growing and coming together."
