Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah will add to a record that could be tough to beat when he lines up for City Origin in Mudgee on Sunday, April 22.

According to leading rugby league statistician David Middleton, Farah holds the record as the player who captained City Origin the most in the current format. Farah has been named captain for the fourth consecutive year.

Former Balmain Tigers great Wayne Pearce holds the record as captain for City Firsts from 1984-88. The format was then changed in 1987 under Origin player qualification rules to City Origin versus Country Origin. Pearce then captained the City Origin teams in 1987-1988.

Farah, the Wests Tigers skipper, said it was a great honour to lead City Origin.

"It is my fourth year running as captain and it is always a special moment,'' Farah said.

"I really enjoy my time with the City Origin side and with Brad Fittler as coach last year, it was probably the best camp we have ever had.

'I'm really looking forward to the game. There is not too much you can do in a week in terms of a game plan.

"It is more about getting the basics right, bonding as a team and getting to know the boys and going out there and playing for each other.

"We did that well last year. We didn't get the result last year but we really dug deep for each other and we will do that again this year."

A last minute try to Newcastle winger Akuila Uate saw Country Origin beat City Origin 18-12 in Albury last year.

Farah will be joined in the City Origin side by his Wests Tigers team-mates Chris Lawrence, Liam Fulton and Aaron Woods. City Origin will be looking for their first win since a 40-18 victory in Orange in 2009. City Origin have won the shield 12 times since 1987.
