Storm winger, Matt Duffie, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2012 season with a shoulder injury.
Duffie, who injured his left shoulder in Round 19, played in the NSW Cup competition last weekend in the hope of returning to the NRL side in time for Storm's finals campaign.
After the match Duffie reported soreness in his shoulder to the club's medical staff, and after further consultation, it's been decided he requires reconstructive surgery.
Storm GM Football Operations, Frank Ponissi, said it's disappointing to lose a player of Duffie's calibre for the remainder of the season.
"We are very disappointed for Matt as he was looking forward to the upcoming finals series, however he has certainly contributed to the success of the team in 2012 playing 17 games and scoring 10 tries," Ponissi said.
"Whilst he will be sorely missed from the line-up we believe we have sufficient depth to cover his loss."
Duffie will undergo surgery on Monday allowing him to return to pre-season training in November at the same time as the rest of the squad.
