GOLD COAST, Sept 25 AAP - North Queensland have confirmed the signing of St George Illawarra youngster Cameron King on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old signed on with the Cowboys on Wednesday and will join his new teammates at pre-season training in November.

King is the second new arrival at the Cowboys in as many weeks with former Penrith fullback Lachlan Coote completing his move north last week.

King, a Junior Kangaroos representative, made 17 first-grade appearances for the Dragons after debuting as an 18-year-old in 2010.

"We believe Cameron is a young hooker on the rise," Cowboys' football manager Peter Parr said.

"He wanted an opportunity to play more first-grade football and we were looking for someone to strengthen our depth in that position."

King's signing comes just two days after another No.9, Anthony Mitchell, penned a one-year extension to his deal with the Cowboys.

"The Cowboys have given me the chance to play some more regular NRL and an additional year so I am looking forward to this and am thankful to the Dragons to allow me the chance to take up this opportunity," King said.
